The Elizabeth Verveer Tishler Prize in Music Performance, established in 1984 by Elizabeth Verveer Tishler, J1931, is awarded on the basis of a competition, open to all undergraduates except those enrolled in the Tufts-NEC dual degree program. Performance is limited to classical, jazz, or modern work. | |
Elizabeth Muriel Verveer Tishler was born in December 1909. She and her husband, Max Tishler, met at Tufts. She is an accomplished musician, and the piano has had a special place for most of her life. She has two pianos at home and particularly enjoys playing two-piano works with a friend. She is also a sculptor. | |
She is a loyal friend of Wesleyan University and Tufts University. She and her husbant, Max Tishler, have been valued supporters of Tufts for a long time. She has been a quiet but consistent and dedicated supporter of the chemistry department at Tufts for many years, as well as the music department. | |
