Thomas Henry Armstrong (1847-1927), A1869, Walker Instructor of Math, received his MA from Tufts in 1870 and was an active trustee of Tufts College for thirty-four years. | |
Armstrong was born in 1847, in Waltham, Massachusetts. He graduated from Tufts in 1869, and from 1869 to 1873 he was an instructor of mathematics at the school. For many years after he was a practicing lawyer in Boston. | |
Armstrong served in several capacities as a Trustee. Initially elected to the Board in 1877, he performed the tasks of Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President of the Trust, and Chairman of the Executive Committee. He was also head of the committee empowered to select the fourth president of Tufts. | |
As an undergraduate Armstrong was elected to Phi Betta Kappa, and was a brother in the Zeta Psi fraternity. | |
Thomas Henry Armstrong died on June 27, 1927. | |
