In my state there is a thruway, Six-lane thruway, top speed seventy. From that thruway is an exit, Exit 13, ramp speed thirty, At that exit's end, a toll-booth, Passenger cars, Lanes 2 and 3. Past that booth you come to a rotary, Round and wide and Drive With Care. A stop-light east is Maple Terrace, In Maple Terrace stands a white house, It says on the mailbox H. J. SMITH. In the Smiths' house is a bedroom, Master-bedroom, rear, three windows, In that bedroom a wide white bed, Beside that big bed, on the floor, Lies a pile of H.J.'s clothes. In that pile is his gray trousers, In those trousers is a pocket, In that pocket a green wallet. In that wallet is an old snapshot. Snaps hot girl, black bathing-suit, Slim Mrs. trim Mrs. Long-leg Smith, Honey" a summer twenty years ago. | |
