King Time is the one monarch who will never By death or abdication lose his throne. No loud republicans or serfs will ever Rejoice to see this tyrant king pulled down. | |
By and old patent, probably from God, His reign is for eternity, Defender Of Night and Day, prince of the land of Nod. By turns his arbitration, harsh or tender, Decided the hour when each of us is born, And judges finally our best endeavor. | |
Though most obey him, rebels twist and turn Beneath his hand, the traveller or lover, Yet neither hold nor hurry him, nor learn His law and language: Never. Now. Forever. | |
