Remembered nights
Remembered nights
Dark nights when we have lain and listened To the fog-bell ringing far away, Listened to the thin cold waves below us, Believing not what either had to say,
Are safe from all that Time can do to them, And now love is living none the less Though all the sea was black and though the bell Tolled slow for loneliness,
We did not hear. Our hearts were overfull. A sweet fire warmed us through and through. I only heard amazing words you whispered, You heard only what I said to you.
