To a small boy learning to read
To a small boy learning to read
O, little chap with curly hair And serious wide blue eyes, Intent upon a story book And on the pictures there,
If only I could tell to you What pleasures will be yours, When you get to story land, Safe inside it's doors.
Smooth and easy be your path, Pleasant be the view, Fair be every turn of road That meets your eyes of blue.
And may you always be like that In everything you do: Intent and serious on your work. And, o, those eyes of blue! )
