Poem
Once I walked out in the moonlight All alone, And all the trembling summer night Was clear, and soft stars shone. I walked, and sang, And in exuberance of spirits ran And ran o'er fields until I tired, And near a birch tree lay And watched the heavens Saw the bright stars fall, And laughed and shouted to the moon With gladness. Just to live was good, I felt, and I defied The world to take this night from me, And I turned upon my arms and cried. | |
