Sometimes in hours of greatest happiness There comes a sudden catching poignant fear, And ever in the midst of laughter's peal The watcher may detect a glist'ning tear. Ever beneath the poem swimming lilt A counter strain of sadness gives it's note Ever between the staves of joyous song A half song trembles in the singers throat. | |
