Faculty counselor [In the dean's office]
Faculty counselor [In the dean's office]
When I am tired with teaching what I love, And crouch for safety in the official skull, I think that helping the young to choose is easy, And suggest what I know the college rules require. But see in young eyes a queer sudden glitter Once in five or six interviews, maybe seven. Will you tell me, a boy says, the sense of A rule for the rule's sake, and not my vision's? Then it is not easy for me, and is more like life. I say, Sit down, and tell me about your vision. If he'll talk, I smile, and throw away the rules, And make plans to break law for one life in seven, To open doors the spirit within wants open. | |
