Let it be said
Let it be said
Let it be said of me I loved a quiet place Rather than stir and life. Let it be said I loved a friendly face Rather than laughing crowds, And let it be said I loved, That things I loved were beautiful Small things: the lights at night, A pleasant book, a simple song, The curl of smoke, a fragrant A lovely poem's swinging line; Let it be said I loved The way my dog would greet The sound of home returning feet With joyous tail; that I loved silence And the deepening sky. Let these be gently said of me If I should die. | |
