Nocturne
Night- when light winds blow Night- when trailing clouds Across the moon blot out The sight ; when shadows whisper low; Night - when fairies come To dance across the grass. Night - when darkness Covers secret deeds; and phantom shapes Concealed in shadows, pass, To and fro The tall firs away in silence And in mystery. Night - when o'er the darkened vault Of sky, the witches go. Night - when blackness settles O'er the earth - shuts out the near And dear things, and at once Dismays and pleases Brings delight and fear; Night - when common sounds Are fearful things; when voices Come from space, and light Confounds the eye Grown used to darkness And the stars.
