To one I dislike
To one I dislike
It is not that you've harmed me By any act or look or word, But that you awake in me A hatred, and it shakes me With revulsion. All my feelings Rise against you. Instinct warns me To dislike you, and I shudder inwardly, And detest the things I see Through you, and in your eyes, Those pools of evil! And I have a fear, though still I know Tis but the thing you stand for That I fear, and hatred Is a sail of fear. Because of that I hate you; because you are unclean Inside; your very look defiles me, Coming from an unclean soul; Because- I know not why. A blind, unreasoning hatred fills me And I hate you, hate you. | |
