Collected Poems of John Holmes
Holmes, John A., Jr.
Be proud, and fierce,
Like a wild thing better dead than tamed,
Unconquerable and cunning.
Be like the wrestler none can throw.
When the ringside think your shoulders
Touch the mat,
And shout they do,
And hope they do,
Twist, you losers, twist,
This way, that way.
Break the grip, come out from under,
Parry for the hold again,
Saying, "Not this time, not this time.."
The cunning wrestler none can throw.
