New name
New name
(A British writer recently named his sons Crecy and Agincourt.)
I would not name my son Some battle he had not won, Nor girl a goddess either At school with her mother. But for this new blood, What sound of word is good? Naming a boat, or gun, Or a dog, is easier done Then titling a son. A girl's any name is love Her man thinks often of. A new name should be known By its l's and b's and m's Called from hills and rooms. I would not use my own, Nor any hung on the tree Of my much-named family, Nor a baseball god, nor Fish, jewel, flower, star. Time, time will tell, As the Indians knew well. Let what the child does and is Be her name or his.
