Wings
Wings
My life for wings, For silvery wings magnificent! To sweep across the sky! Oh, to fly! And fly! Through the night's blue-blackness, Midst the frosty stars, To plunge into the Milky Way, And turn and churn the vastness Of that silvery reach of star-dust, Into foam, Loosen the glorious stars, To see their sickening drop, Down- and down, In streams of following light. Oh, to survey the heavens vast, To know their space and solitude, And beat my wings, And swoop in lengthening curves, Down, and down, Like falling stars. | |
