On the twenty second anniversary
The time is not a time for many words, For what small words of ours can e'er express The meaning of this night, or of that other night A score of years ago - your wedding night, Which mem'ry blest is yours to look upon.
So we who gather here to-night And bring our greetings and our gifts, Bring not the thing itself, but rather, tokens. In that light regard it, and may you always know We want to say that you have won Respect and love through these years From us, and that our hearts o'erflow For you. We try to let you know By this, our that we salute you As a wife and mother twenty years And more, and bring to you The kindly thoughts we can not utter, That the years have made your due.
