Fears
Fears
You walked within the jungle of your mind - The green tops rippled like a sunlit sea, So calm no bird above would guess what whined And clambered in the boughs of tree.
When savage fears went sliding down your veins, In headlong panic at the roots to hide, No one could hear what pains and fear of pains, What jabbering words of wild alarm they cried.
You felt in the vertical blood your fears Drop quicker than a spider at the touch; You felt the wild man, at a sound he hears, Leap for a trailing vine, and slide, and clutch.
