An old friend
An old friend
How are you grow so old? Is this the lad With whom I played, with whom I laughed and fought, And walked the quiet woodland way and caught The sound of bird's sweet song? Whose hand I had In boyish pledge? With whom in later years I found new roads and shared and dared the bold Adventures you proposed? Has all that fire Of youth gone from you, all that old desire Left you silent thus? How are you so old? | |
