Beyond the hill
Know ye where the road leads on That crosses yonder field, and curves And rises over hill, to lose itself In woods? More kindness far than I deserve You've given me. I like the town. There's no complaint. Nothing. But I've been wondering as I work What lies beyond those treetops brown." | |
He wandered in, and stayed a while, Worked here a bit ,and there, and talked, And sometimes of an evening walked About as if in search of something. So we knew him for a wandering man And were not surprised when he was gone, But peered across the fields and saw Him go, to make again the urging guest Beyond a hill, and ever on and on. | |
