Sonnet [To someone I know]
Sonnet [To someone I know]
And are you always cold, precise, like this And do you never, reckless once give way To gusts of temper, or in quick delight Show clean clear mind in what you say? And do you never wish with sharp desire For what you may not have, and , storming, Beat your hard-clenched fists upon a table top, Cry out in anger, stamp your two small feet? Oh, do you never, then, impulsive, once, Give way to love, or maddened thirst for wine, Or want to lie in open fields all night And 1et the cool moon drench you, and the shine Of stars fall over you? How can you be This cold, restrained, young person whom I see? | |
