Country morning
Country morning
Up in the appletree chamber she is sleeping, - Room with a low roof, green leaves outside the casement. Over her wide bed the dappled sunlight creeping Moves with the moving of the appletree, in silence.
Silent the chamber, too, fresh with the morning air. Out in the garden a shadow on the dial Shortens her paws at the green ivy there; Dew shines the grass-blade; birds from the meadow call.
Up in the still chamber above the apple boughs The sunlight creeps toward her pillow; it will break Over her yellow hair, and brighten so in her eyes That in her sleep she will smile; and move; and awake.
