Ask me not now
Ask me not now
Ask me not now of the day just past, Nor of the music, not the sunset, Nor the hour I had with you. Words are too weak to say the thing I feel - Words have no power To speak my thought. Ask me not now, But let me have the memory to keep Throughout the days until the time comes When suddenly the cherished word May leap put from my eyes, Having long lain against my heart. As throbbed the bells that rang last night, As, afterwards, a look May thank you for a lovely song you sang. | |
