A nation of teeming millions

Controling half the earth,

Full-grown in a hundred swift flown years

from its mighty sudden birth.

And these are eternal: the stars

And the land, and the rolling sea.

But a nation a life is swift and short

In the time that is to be.

The nation is young and strong

And proud in its youth and strength

God give it the life of the fertile land,

And the might of the sea and its length.
