Memory [Memory's color]
Memory [Memory's color]
Memory streaming behind me on the wind Unfolds in blowing colors and is lost,- Torrents and banners in the rain and sun, A drift of blossom backward on the air, A wave in Time, lengthening as it fails, Backward and downward toward the end of sky. Memory overtaken by the dark Spreads a thin golden stain upon the night, Paler at morning, and dissolves in mist; Music written on air, erased by silence, Leaving the cool daylight clean and clear. Surely as earth goes turning underfoot To speed me toward the light, and light beyond, The days to come will ripple the hollow past, And memory take my color in the wind. | |
