Danger of Delay with Men so Aged.
Each day's delay cuts down some one of their number, and further opportunity with him is for ever gone. Is it not fearful to see men so aged cursing and drinking and revelling? To a rightly informed mind it is even more fearful than to see them facing the cannon's mouth in the field of battle. Let our readers but walk into , or into the ancient , and observe and converse with any number of these men, and it will be impossible to arrive at any other conclusion than that, what- ever honourable exceptions may exist, and whatever most praiseworthy exertions may be made by the chaplains, FURTHER EFFORTS ARE MOST URGENTLY REQUIRED. | |
