Surface Structure of Single-Crystal Hexagonal Ice.

Brumberg, Alexandra.

2016

Description
  • This thesis investigates the surface structure of hexagonal ice primarily through the use of a polymer etching technique. It covers single-crystal ice growth and characterization and then discusses the modification of such growth for preparing D2O ice. Finally, differential interference contrast microscopy is proposed as a method for visualizing the ice surface in three dimensions.
