%X Within western music theory, there are many different ways to transition from one chord to another, including the Parallel (P), Leading Tone (L) Relative (R), Transposition (T) and Inversion (I) transformations. Compositions of these transformations can be studied as the elements of groups under function composition. This talk studies two such groups, known as the PLR and T/I groups, as well as proving how elements in each group only commute with elements of the other group.; Thesis (B.A.)--Tufts University, 2023.; Submitted to the Dept. of Mathematics.
