Abstract: The rapid
growth in the Internet of Things (IoT) has resulted in a gap in engineering education.
In this thesis, I describe a new learning platform to teach and lower the barrier of
entry to IoT. The platform is a website that interacts with ThingWorx, an IoT cloud
platform, and a Raspberry Pi. I discuss the technical and design decisions for the
application, the system architecture, ... read moreand the implementation methods. Nine participants
tested the application and successfully created IoT projects. The overall attitude
towards the platform was positive and users viewed it as being intuitive and
approachable, especially for novices. They also identified usability and software issues
that existed in the system. The user's feedback helped to define future work, including
the need to add more IoT integrations and expand the functionality of logic
statements.
