My work exists
in the spaces of breadth in reflection and refraction. Your hand against a mirror can
never fully be flush with that other hand of yours. In much the same way my
understanding of my relationship with my family is always in an almost space. Navigating
how consuming love can feel in the body and realizing that it can never be transmitted
in the same way to other bodies. I have ... read moretried to visually and linguistically conceive of
my family’s bodies in a world they are most real, not a western framework, nor
even an east asian one, not in any construction conceived through colonialism and
imperialism, there is no real love there. Perhaps in a celestial body, in the moment
that water senses movement before it comes in the ways that stars make room for each
other always echoing and never truly gone.
