  • Everyone wants peace. No question inquiring "are you for or against peace" appears to have been asked in Western Europe, and none is needed. Instead, public opinion research has focused on the kind of peace publics want, on the conditions they are willing to accept, and on the cost they are willing to pay. It is these topics with which this paper deals.
