Abstract: My thesis piece is The Compleat Angler, an album of songs and instrumental movements for mezzo-soprano, baritone, marimba, piano, viola, and cello. This was simply an endeavor to write more art songs, a genre I had not explored yet. However, I had been writing popular music for 10 years and eventually, The Compleat Angler became an attempt to synthesize or, at least, reconcile my two different compositional styles.
