Thus, it may be said that the Mongols of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries were among the pioneers in the history of human kind in initiating the process of globalization that we are witnessing today. This paper attempts to examine the strategies employed by the Mongol rulers to build and govern their vast empire by using a framework derived from the concept of globalization. In particular, the paper focuses on the effort of the first emperor of Yuan Dynasty, Khubilai, to establish the legitimacy of Mongolian.read less
