This thesis examines how innovation labs are helping to promote social innovation, a specific kind of innovation that seeks to address social needs and challenges in contemporary society, across various sectors. Three innovation labs were selected as case studies to form the basis of research: City Tech Collaborative in the nonprofit sector, Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics in the public sector, and Sidewalk Labs in the private sector. Qualitative research methods including a document review, semi-structured interviews, and a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats analysis were used to help answer the research question. Proposed recommendations are made to help strengthen the social benefits of these innovation labs and their potential for encouraging social innovation.read less - ID:
