Type 2 diabetes is a
growing problem in the United States and across the world, as rates of metabolic
diseases continue to climb. Finding treatments that can stimulate insulin production and
promote the maintenance of functional b-cell mass are of particular interest in the
treatment of the disease. TAAR1 is a Gas coupled expressed by pancreatic beta cells as
well as in other tissues. Within ... read morethis manuscript, we attempt to identify and describe
key TAAR1 initiated signaling pathways that utilize pro-pancreatic cyclic AMP dependent
signaling pathways to promote b-cell health. We hope to establish TAAR1 as a potential
therapeutic target that bears many of the signaling hallmarks of incretins, which have
become staples in the treatment of T2DM in recent
years.
