Neglected infectious diseases such as HIV and malaria have plagued our world’s population since their onset and billions of dollars have been spent aimed at tackling these diseases, however, their impact is still prevalent today. This analysis regresses ... read moreHIV and malaria incidence on health expenditure as a percentage of a country’s GDP as well as looks at other factors such as income level and prevention methods. It was found that in general, putting more money into a country’s health expenditure has had an effect in decreasing disease incidence – however, this is just a starting point. The results in this paper show that there are many factors at play and that reaching developing countries and lower income countries should be an economic and health priority moving forward.
