Abstract: This thesis reviews and assesses the impacts of casinos on host
communities. In particular, I use costs and benefits associated with the building of
casinos in various locales throughout the country as case studies to extrapolate on what
could happen if a casino is to be built in Boston's East Boston
neighborhood.
