Though the national FTP strived to produce plays with social and political importance to the communities they performed in, Boston’s company continually failed to do this because of an established system of censorship. This system both restrained the company externally, through official censorship, and internally, by forcing the company to self-censor their own work via strategic play choice, script revision, and calculated promotion.read less
