The estimates suggest that the effect that a power assertive disciplinary style has on academic achievement operates through two distinct channels: 1) it inhibits the child’s capacity to develop a strong internal locus of control, which translates into poorer academic achievement; and 2) it directly and negatively impacts educational success.read less
