The participants for this study were recruited at a summer camp for teenagers in Maine, where cell phone and internet use are prohibited. Interview and questionnaire data were collected from the participants and the data were analyzed using qualitative methods to gain a deeper understanding of these teens' perceptions about social media use and friendship qualities. Findings from this qualitative study may help to understand the changing landscape of social media, mobile technologies and teens' friendship patterns.
