Clytemnestreia is an original adaptation and reinterpretation of Aeschylus’ largely misogynistic tragedy; it hopes toreclaim female agency through a collage of texts and queer performance. The script is an abridged text with acocktail of translations, supplemented with other Greek works from Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. A majoraspect of this staging is gender representation. Influenced by ... read morequeer performers like PWR BTTM and Taylor Mac,the masculinity and femininity of the main characters–Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, Orestes–will be a continueddiscourse from the drafts of the script to the design to the rehearsal room. As the script continues to evolve, wehope to find new ways of adding queer representation and queer performance styles in staging (for instance, dragwill play a role in the construction of the gods).
