We created a proposal for a preventative measure on Zika in low-income
Brazilian communities, as a result of the 2015 outbreak. The main mode of transmission
of Zika is the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The outbreak was worsened by El Nino and a
changing climate, which could lead to more mosquito breeding sites. We assessed the

disease. We considered three studies of different interventions. We eventually chose an
intervention aimed at controlling vector populations for Dengue fever in Cuba. We chose
a preventive measure for an exposed population because of the lack of research on
tertiary interventions. By working to prevent future outbreaks now, we can protect this
population from a heavier burden, and have time to do research on tertiary measures to
help ease the effects of the Zika epidemic.read less
