A small covered structure situated to the southeast or to the right of Scollay Square Station marks one of two exits from the subway tunnel below ground. The Scollay Building at 36-42 Court Street is located on the south side of Court Street, south of the subway tunnel exit. The United States Trust Company at 28 Court Street is adjacent to the Scollay Building, along its eastern wall. The old Suffolk County Court House is situated in the center of Court Street, to the east of the United States Trust Company. The cupola and roof of the Old State House is included in the background, in the center of the photograph. Signage and awnings adorn the facades of most buildings included in the photograph. Horse-drawn wagons and carriages move along Court Street. Several people, both men and women, are seen walking along sidewalks or waiting at the subway tunnel exit. A large clock is visible on the wall of Scollay Square Station.
