Electricity lines and poles line the sidewalk along Causeway Street in front of the railroad depot. Two large clocks adorn the southeast and northwest sides of the depot tower. Street railroad tracks are visible on Causeway Street, as well as on the side street to the northeast of the railroad depot. A portion of the Boston and Lowell Railroad Company Passenger Depot is included along the right side of the photograph, to the southwest of the Eastern Railroad Depot. The original Eastern Railroad Station was less elaborate than the one shown in this photograph.
