Harvard Stadium opened in 1903; The Harvard Stadium was the first athletic facility constructed of reinforced concrete built in the United States. The bridge in this image was replaced by the Larz Anderson Bridge in 1913. During the colonial period, the Great Bridge was erected on this site in 1662-63 to create a land route from Boston to Cambridge through Roxbury and Brighton, known at that time as Little Cambridge.
