Paul R. Krause (1926-2008) transferred to Tufts College where he graduated with a degree in English in 1950. During World War II he fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany and stayed as part of the U.S. Army occupation of Germany after the war because of his German language skills. He worked as writer and case worker for the New York City Welfare Department, his work and life always reflecting his concern for the poor.
