Truth does not live at the bottom of a well. Truth is much more like the sleeping beauty surrounded by a high quickset hedge. Truth has to be fought for by a living person as a virtue which must be brought back to life by personal struggles. And surely it’s this fighting which gives us the right to hold the truth and, equally, the credit in maintaining it. The purpose of life can be said to consist, in two words: truth and love.
