The participation of women in the Constitutional Revolution gave them, for the first time on a large scale, the experience in organizing themselves to demand an expansion of rights and opportunities available to women. This thesis argues that within the larger social debate about modernization in nineteenth century Iran, and attempts to achieve it, an opportunity emerged for the advancement of the status of women.read less
