Participants consisted of 314 Tufts University undergraduate and graduate students who took a survey to evaluate their levels of environmental action, environmental knowledge, accuracy of environmental perceptions, personal beliefs and personal values. Results suggest that the choice to participate in an environmental group leads to higher levels of environmental action, but that the choice to major in Environmental Studies does not have any impact on environmental action levels. Additionally, participants majoring in Environmental Studies did not have higher levels of environmental knowledge than non-majors. Unexpectedly, participants in environmental groups thought that environmental action was less important than participants who were not in environmental groups, despite higher levels of environmental action in the former.read less
