Following in this culturally explorative tradition, this thesis composition aims to explore possible bridges between Hindustani Classical, folk, and popular Bollywood music with concert music in an organic and culturally sensitive manner. My composition, titled "Ichak Dana", is based on a folk rendition of a Bollywood song from 1955. It aims to stay within the parameters of a classical raga, and incorporates Hindustani Classical and folk methods of improvisation.
