Abstract: This thesis looks at an unfulfilled commission requested by Alfonso d'Este, the Duke of Ferrara, from Raphael Sanzio, circa 1514. The painting in question was meant for the Duke's Camerino, a study that would have held works by the most eminent painters of his day.
